We’ve prepared the following local progress outlook for August 2020, based on the latest data available to us.
Compared to August last year, WA online shopping interest is up 10%. Within the Town, we saw an increase in building approvals (20%), business sales (20%) and parking occupancy (8%).
The increase in business sales resulted from a higher number of transactions, rather than a greater spend per transaction. Contradictory to this, pedestrian footfall on Albany Highway is 3% lower than last August. This is a surprising finding, which we believe resulted from increased spending in areas not captured by pedestrian counts.
Whilst parking occupancy increased (8%), the number of parking patrons decreased (5%). This indicates that there was a smaller number of parkers, however each parker stayed longer.
There are more statistics on Jobkeeper, Jobseeker, development applications, and the national household saving ratio shown in the infographic.
